Listen to CEO of IFF, Mark Oaten, and new CEO of the Americas region, Mike Brown, who is representing the entire fur industry in the US, update us on the proposed fur ban in California and NYC. And how newcomer, Mike Brown will be using his political experience to help fight this!
Mark, can you give us an update on the proposed New York fur ban and what are the next stages between now and the end of October? And what has the campaign focused on so far to oppose the aggressive pushes to ban.
To summarise, how much of an effect do you think the pro-fur community are making by protesting, posting on social media, and overall coming together to unite and go against the proposed fur ban? Has this helped in any way?
It’s also really exciting to have Mike here today, who is IFF’s new American CEO.
Mike, you join the industry in the middle of a very big aggressive movement to ban Fur in various US states. You start with a very big and important challenge; can you explain a little about how your political experience can help fight the proposed fur ban that is taking place in both California and New York?
And I know that your primary focus has been on California as it has been the immediate threat, now that the bill has been delayed until 2023, what does that mean for the fur industry?
In conclusion, to both, what do you think will ultimately be the decision maker on all those bans proposed – Could a ‘FURMARK ONLY’ solution in the US be the future of the industry?
